Conditions
Hurricane Lowell came through in September and the west end of the coast took the worst of it. Lawai Road, out toward Spouting Horn, is open again, but expect a bumpy ride while the county repaves it. Everything east and north of the shop came through in good shape: Poipu Beach, Shipwreck Beach, the Maha'ulepu Heritage Trail and Old Koloa Town are all open and rideable. Separately from the storm, the county is still rebuilding Poipu Road, including the stretch directly in front of the shop, and the sidewalks are not in yet.
Walk your bike through the heavy sections rather than riding them, follow whatever the Kauai County road crew tells you, and read our guide to getting around Poipu without a car for the routes we are giving guests right now.
